Latvia's bioeconomy generated €2.8 billion in added value and employed 124,600 people in 2020. The wood products and furniture sector contributed €799.47 million (28.7% of total) with 28,160 jobs, forestry added €490.2 million (18,000 jobs), and food and agriculture contributed €1.2 billion (69,620 jobs). Since 2008, value added in wood products and furniture rose 138%, forestry value added grew 52.7%, and forestry employment increased 32.2%. Latvia ranks 4th in Europe for forest area per capita and 2nd for agricultural land per capita. Key policy drivers include the National Bioeconomy Strategy 2020–2030, the National Research and Innovation Strategy 2021–2030, and the Action Plan for the Circular Economy 2020–2027. Bio-based electricity value added surged by 2229.6% since 2008.
