Textile innovation from Latxa wool for sustainable local and industrial markets

or

Detail description

A Basque Government-funded project led by Latxa Esne cooperative, Neiker, Urkome, and designer María Cle aims to develop a traceable, high-value textile product from Latxa wool—previously considered a waste product. The initiative seeks to enhance the economic sustainability of Latxa sheep farming by creating a prototype for artisan, design, and industrial markets, with potential for certification and international export. The project assesses the feasibility of transforming 700 tonnes of annual wool production into a market-ready product, supporting environmental and social sustainability.
