TICs4FRUIT: Optimizing Fruit Post-Harvest and Distribution Chains
Optimizing fruit post-harvest chains with smart ICT solutions for traceability and quality monitoring
or
Detail description
Optimizing fruit post-harvest chains through ICTs, traceability, and smart sensors to reduce waste. TICS4FRUIT, launched in 2018 under PNDR, develops real-time monitoring systems using wireless networks, spoilage indicators, and smart labels. The project targets quality bottlenecks in logistics, sets critical control limits for fruits, and validates best practices via pilots. A platform and mobile app enable data access, aiming to cut post-harvest losses—up to 45% globally, with 1/3 between harvest and consumer—through digitalization and traceability. Led by ITEE with partners including A2, PCTAD, Geedar, MERCASA, and FEPEX.
