Bioeconomy Development in Rural European Agriculture

Transforming underused agricultural facilities into year-round bioproduct hubs across Europe

or

Detail description

A European-funded project demonstrates how underused agricultural facilities can be transformed into year-round bioproduct production hubs, known as Integrated Biomass Logistics Centres (IBLCs). By repurposing existing infrastructure, agricultural industries in Spain, Greece, and Sweden successfully produced bioproducts such as biofuels, pellets, bioplastics, and activated carbon. The initiative enhances competitiveness, stabilises annual output, and supports rural economic development through sustainable biomass use.
