MOVING Project: Honey Production Resilience in Mountain Regions

MOVING is a Horizon 2020 project supporting sustainable mountain value chains through policy frameworks across 15 European countries. Focused on biodiversity, climate resilience, and local honey production, it engages stakeholders in 23 mountain regions. In Slovakia, the project operates in the Horešron Region, supporting high-altitude honey production linked to natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and low-intensity agriculture. Key challenges include drought, extreme weather, habitat loss, declining pollinator habitats, and policy gaps. The project promotes agri-environmental practices, stakeholder collaboration, and consumer trust through regional branding and education. Recommendations emphasize landscape planning, pollinator-friendly farming, and inclusive policy development to secure long-term mountain resilience.
