Optimisation of the biocontrol of the poultry red mite with arthropod communities of laying hen houses

About project

The poultry red mite is a hematophogous mite of economic importance in the poultry industry. Because these mites do not live on their hosts (they only use the host to feed) but in habitats potentially shared by many micropredators, biocontrol agents have potential to regulate this pest in poultry buldings. The Bioptipou project aims to evaluate the feasibility of conservation biological control on the poultry red mite and to identify the biological agents that are able to control the red mite population's development.
