GUÍA BLANCA PARA LA SOSTENIBILIDAD DEL SECTOR LÁCTEO

This white paper presents the main results and recommendations of the LAKTIS project, focused on sustainability in the dairy sector. It brings together technical knowledge, farmer perspectives and lessons from participatory activities carried out with dairy sector stakeholders. The document aims to support a realistic and useful transition towards more sustainable dairy farming. It focuses on:

• carbon footprint measurement;

• practical mitigation strategies;

• farmer-centred decision-making;

• regulatory and policy needs;

• technical support and funding requirements;

• collaboration across the dairy value chain.

The guide highlights that sustainability should not be reduced only to environmental indicators. It must also consider farm profitability, administrative simplicity, technical advice and the specific reality of dairy farms in Galicia and Asturias.
