Rotational management system for mixed dairy and meat farms

Sustainable grazing and farming practices in Romania and Nordic grasslands

or

Detail description

This document presents a cost-benefit analysis of sustainable agricultural investments in mixed dairy and meat farming, focusing on grassland management in Romania and Nordic grasslands. It evaluates economic, environmental, and social impacts, including reduced input use, improved biodiversity, soil regeneration, and increased feed self-sufficiency. Findings from an 8- to 14-year study show mowing supports greater plant diversity than grazing. Both studies, EU-funded, highlight context-specific strategies for sustainable farming with moderate payback periods and workload reduction.
