Providing a mixed ration in the pasture: Context profile

Sustainable grazing systems and data-driven management in European dairy farming

or

Detail description

This document presents a cost-benefit analysis of a grassland-based dairy farming system in the Netherlands, emphasizing low initial and operational costs, high payback periods, and improved feed self-sufficiency. It highlights agroecological benefits and data-driven tools like *Pastur'Plan* (2015) and *PastureBase Ireland* (2017) for rotational grazing management. Environmental and socio-economic impacts remain largely unquantified. Funded by the European Union, the analysis reflects the authors’ views, not institutional positions. Supporting research includes the French 'Grasslands in the Future' protocol.
