Detail description
Cover crops improve soil fertility, structure, and water retention while suppressing weeds and pests in horticultural systems. Legumes fix nitrogen, grasses prevent erosion, and brassicas provide biofumigation. Proper timing and management prevent competition with main crops. Used in rotations, they enhance biodiversity, reduce chemical inputs, and increase resilience. Funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme (grant No 10160591).
