Feeding on-site grown field beans to broilers

Field beans as local feed alternative in broiler production for circular agriculture

or

Detail description

Feeding on-site grown field beans and whole wheat to broilers reduces reliance on soy, lowers environmental impact, and supports circular agriculture. This Good Practice enhances soil health, reduces feed transport, and recycles manure as fertilizer. Field bean varieties were tested for nutritional value with positive results. Investment required includes a bean cracker, silos, and weighing scales (€20K–€30K), plus a seeder (€60K). Feasible on-farm or in collaboration with arable farmers, but cost-effectiveness remains unproven.
