MOVING Project: Sustainable Beef Farming in the Šumava Mountains

Beef production in the Šumava Mountains faces challenges including rural depopulation, drought, and subsidy uncertainty. As part of the EU H2020 MOVING project, stakeholder workshops identified two key needs: improved farmer cooperation with shared local slaughterhouses to boost regional value addition, and stronger cross-sector collaboration among farmers, National Park authorities, tourism operators, and local governments to enhance youth retention. The project supports sustainable mountain agriculture through targeted funding and policy co-creation in 15 countries.
