The BroilerNet project involves a bottom-up approach to identify challenges and innovation needs for broiler farmers in Europe, and to collect promising and already successfully implemented Good Practices to meet the challenges in questions. The top Good Practices selected by experts within the three thematic areas (animal health management, animal welfare and sustainability) have been summarized in factsheets. Implementing vehicle and truck disinfection upon entry to a farming site, using an on board disinfection system and/or an automatic disinfection ramp, are highly effective measures in fighting Avian Influenza and other infectious diseases in poultry farming This practice ensures the thorough removal of external contaminants, including pathogens, from the surfaces of broiler transport trucks and other vehicles, significantly reducing the risk of pathogens transmission. Indeed, broiler transport trucks are not always consistently washed and disinfected prior to their entrance in a farming site, which is nonetheless crucial for minimizing disease spread Implementing disinfection measures significantly reduces the risk of pathogen transmission, helping to safeguard the health of the broiler flock, especially during sensitive operations such as thinning or the removal of females.
