Catalogue of Climate Solutions: Approach for selecting mitigation options and estimating climate impacts

This deliverable presents the methodology used to develop the ClieNFarms Catalogue of Climate Solutions. The catalogue was created to support farmers, advisors and other stakeholders in selecting climate mitigation and carbon sequestration practices adapted to different agricultural systems.

Starting from an inventory of 690 measures, a systematic selection process based on scientific evidence, technical readiness and applicability resulted in 33 climate solutions organised into more than 100 factsheets covering dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, pigs, arable crops and olive orchards.

Each factsheet includes information about the climate solution, greenhouse gas mitigation potential, soil carbon impacts, economic implications and trade-offs or synergies with other sustainability objectives. Effects are assessed using literature evidence, life cycle assessment approaches, expert review and harmonised Likert-scale indicators to facilitate comparison between solutions.
