This factsheet examines the energy production and self-consumption of two farm types—arable farming and livestock farming—when powered solely by solar panels (PV) versus a combined solar and small-scale wind setup. It highlights the complementary nature of solar and wind energy, with PV producing most in summer and wind in winter, reducing grid dependency and price volatility. The integration of both systems increases on-site energy use, from 20–27% to 53–66%, and reduces electricity purchases. Technical details include a 40 kWp PV system and 45 kW/h wind turbine, with installation requiring only an environmental permit.
