Op drie representatieve locaties in de Krimpenerwaard is gedurende twee jaar onderzocht wat het effect is van het opzetten van het slootpeil met en zonder actieve greppelinfiltratie. De positieve resultaten van peilopzetten en greppelinfiltratie op het verhogen van de grondwaterstand kunnen niet los worden gezien van het verlies aan draagkracht van perceel, het verlies aan stabiliteit van de oever, het zichtbaar afkalven van de oever en het verlies aan biodiversiteit op de oever. Vernatten heeft in de twee jaar van de proef geen tot een beperkt positief effect op opbrengst. Als gevolg van een verminderde draagkracht en een kleiner productief areaal neemt de totale agrarische productie per hectare af. Actieve greppelinfiltratie kan tot hoge methaanemissies leiden.

The BIOEAST Initiative was founded by the Ministers of Agriculture of Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovenia. The BIOEAST Initiative represents the common political commitment and shared strategic research and innovation framework for working towards sustainable and circular bioeconomies in the CEE countries.
This case study is drafting new legislation that allows renting forestland for multiple purposes in order to increase economic efficiency and maintain a balance between all ecosystem services. This Russian case works on regulation mechanisms so that people renting forestland can use it for multiple purposes, and to include ecosystem services in the Forest Code.
