Land Reclamation Cadastre in Latvia for Sustainable Water Management

Land Reclamation Cadastre supports sustainable water management and infrastructure safety in Latvia

or

Detail description

Land reclamation systems in Latvia address excessive moisture on agricultural land, with 90% of farmland affected by high precipitation. The Land Reclamation Cadastre, managed by ZMNĪ, records spatial and textual data on drainage and water discharge systems covering two-thirds of agricultural land, including 37,000 hectares in flood-prone areas. It supports sustainable resource management, infrastructure safety, and public access to hydrometeorological and technical condition data. Funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 (grant No. 818194), the DESIRA project promotes productive land use and environmental safety through improved water regime management.
