BeeKing: Digital Apiary Management with Voice and NFC

BeeKing is a mobile application developed under the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme (grant No. 818194) to streamline apiary management for beekeepers. It uses voice recognition and NFC sensors to automate note-taking, recording colony status, queen health, Varroa treatments, and honey/pollen yields. Data are stored in the cloud and accessible via an internet portal for monitoring, planning, and scheduling. The app supports decision-making, enhances data accuracy, and fosters knowledge sharing through an online forum. It improves efficiency, reduces manual effort, and promotes sustainable beekeeping with environmental and socio-economic benefits. Project completed July 2020.
