DESIRA project: digital game changers in European agriculture and rural innovation

Digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas is reshaping socio-economic dynamics through game-changing technologies like robotics, UAVs, and digital copyright systems. The DESIRA project, funded by Horizon 2020 (grant No. 818194), examines these impacts across 20 European Living Labs. It reveals how rapid technological advancement outpaces incremental changes in legislation, markets, and social systems, creating volatility and complexity. While these innovations boost productivity and open new opportunities in farming and forestry, they also pose challenges such as labour displacement and regulatory gaps.
