National Vocational Bachelor’s Degree: Organic Farming, Consultancy and Development (ABCD)
Agronomic Innovations (2009) 4, 467–471
Detail description
The proposal to establish a professional bachelor’s degree entitled ‘Organic Agriculture, Consultancy and Development’ is the result of a commitment to offer, at national level, a course which, with the support of the sector, brings together academic expertise and higher education in agriculture with that of a network of technical agricultural colleges. This degree aims to train versatile middle managers who are specialists in organic farming issues across the fields of production, processing, distribution, inspection and certification, and marketing. It is primarily aimed at students in continuing professional development, those on professional training contracts, and students from initial higher education programmes (second year of a bachelor’s degree, BTS, DUT, etc.). Delivered through a work-study programme and in parallel across four training sites, it is conducted entirely via a virtual digital university using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
