This study examines the effects of acute sulfoxaflor exposure on learning and memory in bumblebees (Bombus terrestris) and honeybees (Apis mellifera). Using olfactory conditioning (Proboscis Extension Reflex) and radial arm maze tests, researchers found no significant impairment in short- or long-term memory at field-realistic concentrations (2.4–250 ppb). Results from 240 bumblebees and 174 honeybees show no adverse impact on cognitive performance, suggesting sulfoxaflor does not negatively affect bee neurocognition under acute exposure. The findings contrast with known sub-lethal effects of neonicotinoids on bee behavior and highlight the need for further research on chronic exposure and non-social bee species.
