Rock dust application to control rape pollen beetle in rapeseed
Biological control of rape pollen beetle using rock dust in organic rapeseed cultivation
or
Detail description
Rock dust and kaolin applications at BBCH 52 stage reduce rape pollen beetle infestation by up to one third, increase pod density by 25%, and boost rapeseed yield. Effective at 30–50 kg/ha 'Klinospray' with 2 l/ha 'Heliosol' or 20–25 kg/ha 'Surround', applied via spray (600 l/ha, 3 bar, 3.5 km/h) or dusting (200–250 kg/ha) in still conditions. Treatments must be sieved before mixing, tanks rinsed after use. Second application before blooming protects lateral buds. Recommended for organic farming, especially in late-flowering, frequently cultivated, or woodland-proximate areas. Field trials (2017, FiBL) support efficacy.
