Detail description

Recycling sprayers in pome fruit production reduce drift and improve efficiency, saving up to 30% on spraying solution. Multi-row and tunnel systems use lateral shielding and air support to recycle overspray, achieving up to 15% seasonal savings before blooming, decreasing to 10% later in the year due to leaf mass. These systems enhance accuracy, especially in windy conditions, but require skilled operation and maintenance. Limitations include reduced manoeuvrability, need for wider headlands and straight parcels, and incompatibility with most hail protection systems. Proven models include the NTR20 by WANNER and OSG-NVM2 by LIPCO. Developed by FÖKO within the BIOFRUITNET project, this tool is available in English (USA) on Organic Eprints, with feedback welcome at niklas.oeser@esteburg.de. Applicable to organic fruit farming, pest and disease control, and weed management.
