Natural Salt Marsh Meadows for Cattle Grazing and Biodiversity
Natural salt marsh meadows support cattle grazing and biodiversity in coastal regions
or
Detail description
Natural salt marsh meadows, covering about half of coastal marsh agricultural land, are maintained by bovine grazing and support high biodiversity. These meadows provide seasonal forage, with haymaking in early June and grazing from April, though clay soils limit winter access. Reeds (Phragmites) in depressions offer late-summer forage, extending grazing. They are vital for farm fodder systems and host diverse flora and fauna, especially along bird migration routes.
