Coltivazione integrata di grano duro e allevamento ovino con produzione di formaggi innovativi a base di latte ovino, caprino e bovino

Detail description

The Manca family's farm, Montentosu, in north-western Sardinia, innovatively combines durum wheat cultivation with rotational grazing of dairy sheep. The farm uses the ancient Capelli variety at low seeding rates, allowing sheep to graze until late March, which boosts grain yield and provides high-nutrient forage. This dual-use system enhances both cereal and livestock production. The farm also produces unique cheeses from sheep, goat, and cow milk, including vegetarian and traditional 'di fossa' varieties, diversifying income and attracting broader consumer markets. Covering 180 hectares, the integrated approach supports sustainable agriculture and agri-tourism.
