Respectful intensification of production methods

Intensive forage production through soil care and innovative crop rotations

or

Detail description

The farm uses soil-friendly practices to boost forage production, focusing on Swiss mixtures, minimal tillage, and rotational grazing. Covering soil at all times, it relies on crop rotation, legumes, and bioproducts like digestate and biodynamic powder. The farmer performs artificial inseminations and ultrasounds for herd monitoring. Achieving 20 t DM/ha, with 16–17% crude protein and high energy, the system supports 95 dairy cows at 9,000 L/cow/year, reducing concentrate use to 450 kg/yr per cow. The strategy emphasizes cost reduction, soil health, and natural root-based soil management over mechanical inputs.
