133-cow dairy farm in Swichum, Netherlands, managed by Hotze Bosch and son, uses two Lely milking robots and prioritises day-and-night grazing on 40 hectares of clay soil. Cows walk up to 2 km to reach paddocks, supported by outdoor grass and water in the barn to encourage return to robots. A custom hydraulically operated silage covering system enables single-person, under-30-minute coverage of trench silos, ensuring year-round forage availability with no winter ration changes. Mowing occurs every 10 days to maintain grazing quality. The farm achieves 14 kg of fresh grass per cow daily, demonstrating effective integration of robotic milking and long-distance grazing.
