Long-term grazing management with the DSS Pâtur’Plan in France

or

Detail description

Pâtur’Plan is a French decision-support system launched in 2015 to help farmers anticipate grazing management by aligning herd demand with expected grass growth. Developed in collaboration with an advisory firm, it supports planning for grazing, cutting, and supplementary feeding. Available via the Elvup website, the tool was showcased at two Practice and Science Meetings in May 2017 and 2018, where farmers and advisors shared experiences, challenges, and solutions. A visit to the INRA experimental farm demonstrated its real-world application. Participants reported increased confidence in decisions, highlighting the software’s role in reducing reliance on intuition and improving planning accuracy.
