CHEERS Project: Sustainable Brewing Innovation via Bio-Based Platforms

Transforming brewing by-products into sustainable protein, feed, and cosmetics via insect and microbial platforms

or

Detail description

The CHEERS project, funded by the European Union and UKRI, transforms brewing side-streams into sustainable products using insect and microbial bioproduction platforms. It valorises bagasse, CO2, and biogas into protein drinks, animal feed, sanitising agents, cosmetics, and pet food. Based in Alovera, the project advances circular economy models in brewing, supporting EU Green Deal goals. Pilot plants are under construction, with 11 partners across five countries driving innovation in sustainability.
