Public relations and farm outreach through My KuhTube

My KuhTube: Connecting urban audiences with rural dairy life through farm videos

or

Detail description

Amos Venema runs a family dairy farm in Jemgum, Ostfriesland, Germany, with 171 cows on 56 hectares within a bird reserve and 35 hectares in a water conservation zone. Nature regulations restrict grazing and grass cutting, reducing yields. Inspired by Australian farm webcams, he launched "My KuhTube" in 2013 with the regional dairy association to improve public understanding of modern dairy farming. The YouTube channel features biweekly videos from 18 farmers, showcasing daily life and farm operations. The initiative fosters dialogue between urban and rural communities and has increased interest in agricultural internships. Amos envisions a permanent agricultural TV channel to strengthen public relations in farming.
