Sheep Grazing with Cattle Reduce Parasitism Risk

Sheep grazing with cattle show reduced parasitism and improved growth performance in mixed-species systems.

or

Detail description

Sheep grazing with cattle show 50% reduction in parasite excretion, improved weight gain (GMQ 71–75 g/day), and lower faecal egg counts (598–615 vs. 1,119) compared to pure flocks. A 2019 study at Laqueille (63) with three treatments and two replicates confirms enhanced performance in mixed-species flocks across beef, dairy, and sheep meat systems. Faecal nitrogen levels were consistent across groups.
