Clover undersowing offers opportunities for large-scale restoration of farmland ecosystems

Farmers’ interest in clover undersowing in cereal crops has been growing in recent years. By 2025, more than 140 farmers and 5 experimental farms were already taking part in trials involving ‘clover undersowing’. Despite a dry spring, the results are promising in terms of both soil improvement and field biodiversity. Clover undersowing has also been successfully applied for the first time in maize and in more sparsely sown wheat.
