Factsheet 1: Opportunities for nature-inclusive arable farming

This factsheet presents the nature-inclusive farming potential table, a tool designed to support collaboration among arable farmers, government officials, water boards, and landscape organizations in developing regions. It identifies 42 measures that enhance biodiversity by improving food, breeding, safety, and movement conditions for 15 species groups. The table evaluates impacts relative to conventional farming practices in areas with low landscape diversity, focusing on functional agrobiodiversity including earthworms, pollinators, and pest predators. Measures are grouped into ten actionable 'knobs' addressing crop choice, soil management, fertilization, and landscape features like hedges and ponds. Suitability varies by landscape type, with high vegetation potentially disrupting open character in open landscapes. Developed by the Louis Bolk Institute, CLM, BoerenNatuur, Grauw Kiekenlief, and Vlindertocht for OBN Natuurkennis, with background documents expected in 2025.
