BBTs Roadmap Implementation IRELAND
Identification of top bio-based technologies for Ireland's agricultural and forestry sectors through regional dynamics analysis
or
Detail description
The BBioNets project (Horizon Europe, GA No 101133904) supports the development of bio-based technologies (BBTs) in agriculture and forestry across six European regions: Ireland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Running from 2023 to 2026, it establishes regional innovation networks (FANS) to prioritise cost-effective, sustainable BBTs through comparative analysis using the SWA Matrix and visual tools. In Ireland, key BBTs include DE4-LIGNO (biogas from non-food biomass), IT8-MNTtC (mobile biorefinery), IE13-BBf/CHAR (food waste to biogas and probiotic juice), PL74-PolishApples (apple pomace to biofuels and bioplastics), and EL82-COMPO (composting for soil health). Technologies were evaluated on cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and efficiency, with a focus on circular agriculture and cross-border collaboration.
