SMARTFARMMRANI: Precision Cattle Farming for Sustainability

This dossier outlines the achievements of the SmartFarmRANI Operational Group during its first implementation period (2023), focusing on precision cattle farming using Avileña and Black Iberian breeds. It details diagnostic work on suckler cow farms, pilot site selection, sensorisation of rearing facilities, and progress in feeding, health, reproduction, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. The project established a robust governance structure, coordinated partner activities, and disseminated results through journals, webinars, events, and digital tools. Funded by the EU’s Rural Development Programme with €571,037.90 in approved grants, the initiative strengthens sustainable livestock practices and enables innovation transfer across regions.
