SmartFarmRANI: Precision Livestock for RANI Cattle Sustainability

This dossier outlines the SmartFarmRANI Operational Group, a EU-funded initiative (80% FEADER, 20% Spanish Ministry of Agriculture) supporting sustainable, profitable, and resilient extensive cattle farming using precision livestock technologies. Focused on the Avileña-Negra Ibérica (RANI) breed, the project integrates six technical work packages (R1–R6), financial management (R7), and dissemination (RD1–RD2) to advance feeding, health, reproductive, and environmental strategies. Key partners include RAENAI, ACV, PYRAMIS, Cajamar, RFEAGAS, IMASDE, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, INIA-CSIC, Universidad de León, and INSANVET. The project emphasizes data-driven decision-making, real-time monitoring of animal behavior and health, lifecycle assessments, and resilience indicators.
