Farming in partnership: Succession Farm Partnership initiative
Supporting intergenerational farm transitions in Ireland through legal and financial partnerships
or
Detail description
Evan Hunt and his father John run a dairy farm in Tobercurry, County Sligo, milking 128 cows on 52 hectares. Since establishing their partnership in 2019, they have expanded their herd and improved farm infrastructure, pasture, and soil fertility. Supported by the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Succession Farm Partnership initiative, the model enables younger farmers to take early responsibility, ensuring smooth farm transitions, improved work-life balance, and enhanced competitiveness. The initiative, backed by EU funding, helps address the ageing farming population and supports intergenerational farm transfers with shared ownership and profit-sharing.
