A plot exchange for grazing system sustainability amid herd size growth
Pasture management innovation through farmer collaboration in France
or
Detail description
This case study examines a French agroecological farming transition with low initial and ongoing costs, including authorisation, advisory, infrastructure, certification, and working capital. It evaluates economic, environmental, and social benefits: high self-sufficiency in animal feed, mid-level improvements in biodiversity and soil regeneration, high workload reduction, and strong youth engagement. The analysis highlights a long payback period and moderate gains in product value and farm income. Funded by the European Union, the findings reflect the authors’ views only.
