Under-row self-reseeding cover crops for vineyard soil and weed management

This innovative self-reseeding subterranean clover cover crop system maintains soil fertility, controls weeds, and reduces herbicide and tillage use in vineyards over multiple growing seasons.

Detail description

Self-reseeding subterranean clover enhances vineyard sustainability by improving soil fertility, reducing erosion and weed pressure, increasing biodiversity, and providing living and dead mulch. It fixes nitrogen, stores carbon, and minimizes herbicide and mechanical weeding needs under the rows. Sown once, it persists for 3–4 years via geocarpy, maintaining soil cover and reducing drought stress. This agroecological approach supports grape yield and quality while lowering environmental impact and production costs.
