Lithuanian bioeconomy contributed EUR 4.2 billion in value-added and employed 174,000 people in 2020, with a share of 8.4% in GDP. Key sectors include agriculture, food, wood products, and bio-based furniture, accounting for 80% of value-added and 85% of employment. Bioenergy, especially biomass-based district heating (75% of heat), and biogas from organic waste are growing. Rapeseed and rye are primary biofuel feedstocks. Business expectations point to highest growth in bio-chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and advanced biofuels. Kuruna produces advanced biofuels from by-products since 2019. Bio-based electricity saw the highest CAGR at 23.6%.
