Most frequent agroecological weed control methods in Ukraine's Steppe Region

Stakeholder perceptions of agroecological weed control methods in the Steppe Region of Ukraine. Crop rotation, inter-row cultivation, and mechanical tillage are widely recognized as key practices. Over 98% value quality seed and competitive cultivars; 85% report hand weeding. Mowing and grazing have declined, with over 70% noting reduced use. Mixed cropping and higher planting densities are less emphasized. Soil cover and flame weeding are known by 63%, but limited in application.
