Certification 1: VIVA and SQNPI for sustainable vineyard practices

Advancing sustainability in vineyards through territorial certification and environmental monitoring

or

Detail description

The OG PROINOS assessed environmental and socio-economic indicators for vineyard sustainability at pilot companies in the Cantina Sociale di Orsago, achieving VIVA (MIPAAF) and SQNPI (MASAF) certifications. Using ministerial software under VIVA Regulations, key indicators—including the Vineyard Indicator—were calculated, promoting member engagement and improved agronomic practices. Positive outcomes were observed in pest control, fertilization, and erosion prevention. Areas for improvement include organic matter management and landscape use of non-productive zones. The Territory Indicator evaluated biodiversity, society, and economic ethics, confirming no erosion or leaching issues, maintained forested areas, and at least 5% land dedicated to natural zones. Buffer strips protect water bodies, and vineyard waste is recycled, with grape shoots reused as fertilizer, supporting circular economy principles. Funded by the European Union and accessible via EU-FarmBook, the project advances sustainability in Italian viticulture through innovation and knowledge exchange.
