Fostering Kestrel Populations in Hungarian Agricultural Areas

This project in southern Hungary demonstrates how collaboration among farmers, conservationists, and ornithologists reversed kestrel population decline through artificial nesting boxes. Kestrels effectively control common vole populations, reducing crop damage without chemical pesticides. The initiative supports sustainable agriculture, enhances biodiversity, and uses kestrels as environmental indicators.
