Monitoring Nature: Remote Sensing as a Key Enabler of Nature-Based Solutions

or

Detail description

This practice abstract demonstrates how remote sensing enhances the planning and evaluation of nature-based solutions (NBS). By combining satellite imagery, drones, and open-source GIS tools, stakeholders can track vegetation health, water dynamics, and land use changes across time and space. The trans4num project’s Hungarian site showcases how accessible, cost-effective technologies empower adaptive land management, especially when paired with capacity-building for local actors. Challenges include data interpretation and integration, but the benefits (scalability, transparency, and early warning) make remote sensing a vital enabler of sustainable agriculture.
