Enhancing Ecosystem Services of Ornamental Plants for Air Quality and Climate Regulation

This project collects data on ornamental plants' ecosystem services, including air purification, climate regulation, and therapeutic benefits. Findings are shared with Flemish ornamental growers, landscapers, and green infrastructure developers through workshops, a study day, and a practical brochure. The initiative supports targeted production of ornamental plants for indoor and outdoor urban environments, enabling stakeholders to meet societal demand for healthier air and climate-resilient green spaces. Scientific insights inform urban planning and green building practices, enhancing the role of ornamental plants in sustainable urban development.
