Detail description
Following the 2021 Meliní-Arakapas forest fire in Cyprus, the Forest Department and Department of Water Resources implemented gabion check dams in steep, eroded stream beds to reduce sediment transport, mitigate flood risk, protect the Kalvassos reservoir from siltation, and support groundwater recharge and biodiversity.
