or

Detail description

BioClima is a public-private pilot programme in Lombardy, Italy (2022–2025), funded with €5.6 million to support 12 projects in protected areas. It focuses on restoring 16 habitats and conserving 22 species, including invasive species management and ecosystem service enhancement. The initiative, led by Regione Lombardia and Fondazione Cariplo, has delivered over 300 hectares of forest improvement, established 27 hectares for biodiversity, and planted 66,000 trees. Technical support from Faculdade Técnica ensures FSC-compliant standards. The programme has trained 150 people, hosted 20 events, and generated 100 media mentions. It supports the EU’s 2030 20% land protection target and addresses Italy’s estimated €260 million annual conservation cost, serving as a replicable model for sustainable land management.
