Il sistema pastorale dell'Agdal: gestione comunitaria per la resilienza socio-ecologica

Community-based governance for ecological resilience and sustainable pastoralism in Morocco

or

Detail description

The Agdal system in Morocco is a community-based governance model that enhances socio-ecological resilience through seasonal grazing closures, such as the three-month closure of Yagour in May, supporting biodiversity and social cohesion. It promotes participatory decision-making, conflict resolution, economic sustainability, and ecological restoration. The system faces threats from youth migration, climate change, drought, and land privatization. Recommendations include legal recognition, integration of traditional practices into education, and development of water infrastructure, mobile schools, healthcare services, and vegetation restoration in pastoral areas.
