Small-scale check dams for erosion and flood protection post-wildfire in Agios Stefanos

Sediment-retaining dams for post-fire erosion and flood control in Agios Stefanos, Greece

or

Detail description

Post-fire construction of four small sediment-retaining dams in Agios Stefanos, Attica, Greece, following the 2009 forest fire. The dams, built by ETOVA ATE, stabilize slopes, reduce erosion, prevent landslides, and protect downstream infrastructure and water quality. Located in the Atalante stream catchment, the structures—three 2-metre and one 3-metre high—were designed to enhance ecological resilience and support long-term soil and water conservation.
