Innovative livestock farming and artisanal dairy production in Madrid's Bustarviejo Valley with regenerative grazing and firebreak management

or

Detail description

La Caperuza is a sustainable livestock farm in Bustarviejo, Madrid, Spain, run by Laura and Conchi. It integrates 170 dairy goats and 60 Serrana cows in regenerative grazing across 200+ hectares of Natura 2000-protected oak and scrubland. The farm produces artisanal cheese and yoghurt, uses GPS-guided herding, and manages over 30 hectares of firebreaks through grazing, enhancing forest fire prevention. Recognised with the 2022 Excellence Award for Rural Women, it promotes economic sustainability, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship through circular practices and educational outreach.
